Calphalon Classic 15-Piece Self-Sharpening Stainless Steel Cutlery Knife and Block Set with Sharp in Technology

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Calphalon knife set seems to be a great set. I like the stainless steel look-it coordinates with all the new kitchen appliances. The knives all work as intended and are very sharp. Since I just started using them, I am assuming they will stay sharp with the built in sharpeners in each slot. I wish they had some instructions in regard to the self sharpening slots. I am not so sure they will stay sharp just by rubbing against these sharpeners while taking in or out of block-or if you are supposed to put some pressure on them while removing and inserting knives.

They do whatever I need them to and clean up easily. They seem like they’ll last forever, but if they don’t, I’ll buy them again.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have been very impressed with this Calphalon knife set. We unpacked it and got using it to prep dinner and I was immediately wowed. The heft and balance of the blades has been perfect while the built-in sharpener means I dont have to fiddle with the stone any more. I was most surprisingly pleased by the steak knives. They had a serrated edge as well as a sharp edge and that combo sliced right through my pork chop dinner tonight. Very pleased!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Calphalon knife set offers a good variety of quality, sharp knives, at a fairly reasonable cost. The pros are: the block and knives have a modern appearance, all the knives have practical uses, they’re sharp and continue to stay sharp with each use (due to the built-in slot sharpeners), they’re very well balanced and have a good grip when dry, and they’re one solid piece of forged metal, so will hopefully maintain their durability. There are some minor cons, as follows: the handles are hollow, so they sound kind of cheap and loud when you remove them from the block, the steak knife slots are pretty large, so the knives are loose in the slots, the built-in sharpeners create a horror-movie-like “schling” sound when you remove the knives (at least you know it’s sharpening them though), and the handles can get slightly slippery when wet since they’re all the same metal material. They don’t sound or feel like a high-end set, but they do perform well which is the most important feature. The self sharpening makes their care almost effortless. Overall, I think it’s a quality set of knives that should last a while. With just a few tweaks they could become premium quality.

So happy with my purchase! Love the fact that it has the built in sharpeners. Cutting my veggies and meats is like slicing butter.

The knives are very sharp and the pairing knife is versatile and will be my go to for most kitchen tasks.The set is easily maintained, and it is the perfect knife set for everyday use. It covers all aspects of kitchen prep, plus the individual steak knives and scissors complete the set. The self-sharpening features is an added and appreciated bonus.

My husband uses it more then I do and he loves it. we really love it, the only thing we don’t like about it is the scissors that come with it, they seem kind of cheap. We love the self sharpening feature.

I like the stainless steel appearance. It gives it even a higher quality appearance. Not all the knifes self sharpen. The steak knifes are serrated. I prefer non serrated steak knifes. I have used the set several times and have always been sharp and are easy to use.
