Classic Cuisine Cast Iron Wok with Handles

Love this wok and the best part is that it’s cast iron! I just recently got into cast iron cooking so having a cast iron wok was just completing my collection of cookware. This is a nice big size and I love the handles on each end which don’t seem to get too hot. I did season it prior to use which is a bit time consuming. I do trust the Classic Cuisine brand as I now have a few of their pieces and have been very pleased so far. My first meal was just a simple teriyaki stir fry which came out beautifully. Nothing stuck to it and it crisped the veggies up nicely and cleanup was a breeze. It is suggested to “dry” it on the stovetop after water cleaning which works wonderfully. I do have a glass top range so I am always worried about the weight of a cast iron pot but this wok isn’t as heavy as most cast iron sauté pans. I really like this wok and recommend adding this to the rest of your cast iron cookware. It can be used on all cooking surfaces including grill which is a huge bonus!

This is a great looking Wok that performs as well as it looks. Something you won’t mind leaving on the stove. The cast iron has a slight texture to it allowing food to “rest” on the sides while allowing other foods to cook at the bottom. i prefer this to smooth sided modern woks. My fear was this would be too heavy to use. It’s lighter than expected at 8lbs 14 ounces. Not super light but easy enough to get in and out of the cupboard. For comparison my enameled Dutch oven is 9.5lbs without the lid. One tip when seasoning, If the oil is still tacky crank the heat up to 400 and put it back in the oven until it stops smoking. Seasoning in the oven makes a lot of smoke so be sure to have good ventilation. I used coconut oil which works well to season. You can also season over an open flame outside or on the BBQ if you can get it hot enough. Being black I don’t have to obsess with getting it to look shiny. On my gas stove the Wok stays very hot even with a lot of food in it. I was able to sear 2lbs of beef and 1lbs of mushrooms all at once without it steaming the beef. Mushrooms came out perfect. I like my vegetables slightly seared but a little crisp. This wok accomplishes that without using too much oil. The wok is very versatile. Since you may leave it on the stove may as well learn to cook all sorts of things with it. The flat bottom acts like a 6 inch sauté pan. Use it for scrambling eggs, frying a burger or chicken breast. My 12 inch sauté lid rests about half way up making it useful for simmering sauces or soups or stews. Also works great for frying. The sides are nice and high but the bottom is only 6 inches in diameter so you can do a few pieces of food without using too much oil. I plan to use this camping over a wood fire. The kids will love to cook their own food. since it cooks quickly everyone can customize a stir fry to their liking. I bet it would work great over a rocket stove. Be sure to get a spider strainer and a wok spatula. Being cast iron you can use metal utensils without the fear of damaging the wok. Its very tough. Woks were were designed to be portable and cook all sorts of foods so get creative!

This has become my favorite surface to cook on! It’s heavy and heavy-duty, heats evenly and well without burning the food. My last wok heated food too fast and burned it quickly; this wok allows me to keep assembling ingredients while some food is already cooking w/ no smoking, overcooked meals!

Excellent size and quality cast iron Wok with handles. The Wok is about 14 inches wide. This pan out of the box is pre-seasoned and ready to go but suggests of course you clean it and properly season it again. My wife is from the Philippines and loves to cook as well as I do American cuisine. This is our first real cast iron Wok that we own and probably will be the last as this cast iron beauty will last forever as long as it is not abused and properly taken care of. We love it. Made several meals already that came out perfectly. Exceptionally great for frying virtually anything. I for reason of testing out this Wok made Pork Adobo which is water base and the meal is boiled, and then simmered. It came out perfect and the Wok after proper cleaning and seasoned looks like it came out of the box brand new. Very pleased with this product and I highly recommend this Classic Cuisine Cast Iron Wok to everyone. Happy Cooking!

Tried other products, like this best for grilling! Learn how to balance weight on side for cleaning in sink, protecting bottom with pad. Use it lots, for us two or guests. Like to get a 10.5 inch square black pan with smooth bottom, (no ridges), by same manufacture!! Hope company reads this for 10.5 pan advice! 🙂

This is one large, actually behemoth, but not too heavy wok. You’re not likely to be using this in the house; mine’s dedicated to the outdoor gas grille where I use it for stir fry and deep fat frying [including tempuras]. If I can find a domed cover large enough, I’ll also try baking my bread in it!14″ across the top, 6.5″ bottom; stands 4″ tall. As a wok should be, the walls are thin, “chiming” when struck.Out of the box, I found the wok to need help. While it might appear to be pre-seasoned [contrary to the included ‘care’ card], I did what any respectable cook would do with new cast iron. First, scour the interior surfaces smooth [it came with a totally unacceptable very rough ‘splatter’ surface, but 30 minutes later with 80 grit an muscle, it came down to a relatively smooth … and adequate … surface finish, almost pewtery silver]. Then a bath in warm soapy water; then a dry over a flame, then rubbed a generous tablespoon of canola on the insides, into the over upside down for 1 hour at 350F. You know it’s properly seasoned with the finish is bronzy and not sticky.

My wife loves this wok. Made by Classic Cuisine, the cast iron wok measures 14′ across and is plenty deep enough. Even though it is advertised as being made with pre-cured cast iron, don’t forget it still has to be seasoned, which is not a big deal. Instructions on how to do this are included.The thickness is very consistent and the heavy duty cast iron in the wok helps to insure a remarkably even heat distribution. No hot or cold spots in the surface makes cooking super easy. And, it cleans up with little effort.I had three coronary blockages last June and my cardiologist keep after me to eat healthy meals. With this wok, the healthy meals my wife makes are also delicious. I wish we had gotten one sooner,
