I recently had the 121-piece Crescent Brand Mechanics Tool Set delivered. I ordered this set to keep in my truck for emergencies. It is compact enough to be placed under the back-seat of the truck. It has a very good combination of the most commonly used tools when working on a variety of jobs. The set contains both SAE and metric sizes for most jobs that you will tackle around the home or when working on your automobile. It comes in a very well organized hard plastic carrying case with a convenient carrying handle. It is compact and doesn’t take up a lot of space but has a nice assortment of tools that can be used for home fastening projects and auto repair jobs. In my opinion, this Crescent tool set is very high quality and versatile. I have added a few pictures below to give you an idea of the great assortment of tools included and the well-organized way they are arranged. In summary, this is a nice compact tool set with a good variety of tools, is high quality and comes with a lifetime warranty.

Nice socket set for home use. The set includes 1/4 and 3/8 sockets in SAE and Metric sizes. It also has separate hand Allen wrenches and socket held Allen wrenches. The ratchets are good quality have a positive ratchet action and a socket quick release button. All the pieces are nicely polished and plated and should hold up to average home owner usage. The set also comes with a very nice, heavy duty case. I got this set with the intention of putting it in the trunk of my classic Pontiac with the addition of some wrenches, pliers and assorted screw drivers for an emergency road kit. Over all this is a nice set and it comes with a pretty comprehensive Limited Lifetime Warranty.

I got this set specifically to sit in the back of my pickup truck. We travel often taking trips upstate or out east, and I just like being prepared in case. I already keep a number of other supplies back there for emergencies, but didn’t have an emergency toolkit. For the average homeowner this set has just what you’ll need. The most common socket sizes in both metric and SAE. And both 6 and 12 point sockets. Each socket has a nice finish, the ratchets turn smooth, and the amount of tools you get at this price is hard to beat. And the case is great for the back of a truck or bottom of a closet, with clear markings for tool locations. And the crescent name already has my trust – my father was a career mechanic with many of their tools.

While looking in the monthly “Home Depot Seeds” catalog of items available for review, I was happy to see a Crescent 121-Piece Mechanics Tool Set listed. The description listed 1/4, 3/8- and 1/2-inch drives, sockets and extensions. That represents a pretty complete set of tools. Crescent is a well-known brand, worldwide”¦. and “a guy can never have too many tools” so I selected it.When the set was delivered, I was a little disappointed to see that the tool set description was somewhat misleading and inaccurate. There aren’t any 1/2- inch sockets, extensions or rachet wrenches included in the set. As a matter of fact, there was only one 3/8 X 3-inch extension in the set. Counting the tools, apparently, they counted the Allen wrenches individually to build up the tool-count. Incidentally, the Allen wrenches were not listed in the set description. The plastic Allen wrench holders they provide, prevent the user from removing any of the smaller wrench sizes without fully removing all the larger sizes in line, thereby, making the holders cumbersome and useless in application. The sockets were a mix of nicely chromed, 6- point and 12- point SME and Metric sizes in both standard and deep-well lengths. Oddly, one 19mm, 12- point socket was approximately 1/8- inch shorter than the rest of the similar sized sockets, a mistake”¦ maybe? The 1/4- and 3/8- inch socket wrenches were nicely made, chromed and had push-button socket-release, which is a plus. They’ve included a plastic holder for the seven assorted flat blade bits and assorted three Phillips bits and one magnetic screwdriver with acrylic handle. Also, there is a set of nut-runners with 1/4- inch hex shaft, seven SME and five Metric and includes a chromed 1/4- inch hex to 1/4- inch square adapter for the 1/4- inch socket wrench.All in all, this set is a decent, basic 1/4- and 3/8-inch socket wrench set that needs additional extensions and other accessories to make it suitable for a mechanics need. The tools themselves are fundamentally solid and will work well for you or use this set to augment or supplement tooling sets you already own but have lost pieces of your sets.

I have had many tool sets over the years and have noticed most no longer have a push button to release the socket so you need two hands to change sizes. I often find myself in an awkward position under a vehicle or with an arm worked into a piece of equipment and being able to change sockets without extracting my arm speeds up my work and produces much less frustration. The set as a whole has a nice selection of sockets, drivers, and allen wrenches. The case doesn’t have much wasted space and a logical set up. I am replacing the loose set in my truck tool box with this one and putting those back in the shop.

The ratchets are solidly made, and the lever to switch from forward to reverse operates smoothly. There’s an assortment of additional tools (like allen wrenches and driver bits) that will come in handy. And the whole kit fits nicely in a carrying case that slides easily in a drawer, on a shelf, under a truck seat, or in a car trunk.

By far everything you need for any home or automotive projects. I can’t think of anything this tool set doesn’t have. The handy case is very durable and has a place for each tool to be placed. The strength and durability of the tools themselves are phenomenal. We used this kit on several projects this past week. One being an entertainment center we put together. This set had everything we needed including the hex wrench we needed for the entertainment centers hex screws. This is definitely a set I would recommend having in all garages, sheds, or even in your vehicle.
