DEWALT 15 Amp Corded 12 in. Double-Bevel Compound Miter Saw with XPS Light

I bought this specific model saw because of the XPS light and the additional cost is well worth the investment. The saw was ready to use right out of the box, although I did check its alignment. The XPS Light is exactly true. The saw changes angles smoothly and quickly. The height of the 12″ blade accepts very wide crown molding in profile. The blade brake works fast once you release the trigger, a safety feature I really love. The only surprise is that there is a little kick when you first pull the trigger – not a negative just a big difference from my old mitre saw. This is a very powerful saw.

Dead on accurate out of the box. Action is smooth and convenient. XPS light is worth every penny. Much better than a laser. Accuracy was my main concern- compound sliders were inconsistent – this saw delivers. Dust collection is terrible – surely Dewalt can do better. But I knew that going in.

Excellent product. I like the tall back of the double bevel saw for crown molding. I had the unlighted version for 8 years and not a problem. I only upgraded for the light. I do a lot of kitchen installs and cutting in low light conditions can be challenging. Best saw made for tall Base boards also. Scott

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Even though I wouldn’t hesitate to toss this tough machine into the back of my truck to work on one of our rental houses, I keep this non-slider screwed to my miter station in my home basement woodshop. It’ll power through larger boards like butter, but truly excels at accurate, fine work like picture frames. The fence and table are extremely robust. I love the LED blade positioning aid. The dust chute gathers 95 percent and deposits it safely in the hood behind the saw. My intention when I set the saw up was to fine-tune it, but a careful check with various squares, backed up by test cuts, revealed that no adjustments were necessary on any axis. This replaced a smaller slider of a lesser brand which I now use as a beater away from home. When it dies, I’ll replace it with a Dewalt 10″ slider. I’d recommend this saw to anyone, from a hobbyist, DIYer like me to a professional framer or finish carpenter.

I did a lot of research before buying this particular saw. Weight is good and better balanced on miter cart than a slider, cuts are more accurate as well. The XPS lighting system is far superior to the laser some saws have. Price at HD is $100 less than MSRP and $50less than the DW716, which is the exact same saw without the lighting feature. One note of caution; my first miter cuts were off and I was worried that there was a problem with the saw. When I went back to the instructions it stated that the saw was adjusted at the factory, which it was, but it failed to mention that for shipping, to fit in the box, the vertical angle if off set slightly. once I adjusted it back to 90 degrees, it was perfect. I consider this my fault not theirs, should have checked everything.
