Milwaukee 24 in./48 in. REDSTICK Compact Box Level Set

Finally splurged and bought this set, not disappointed.

Well constructed tough levels. The vials are a good size and easy to read.

This Milwaukee Redstick two-pack (24″ and 48″) level is a great combination set and is a significant step-up from my other levels. I reach for the 24″ level for many of my everyday needs, such as when I want to check the level of a picture, appliance or other small item. I usually use the 48″ level when I want to check the level of a cabinet project or window. The levels are very sturdy, heavy duty and have the quality of a professional grade level. The aluminum frame has two milled faces to ensure flatness. On the 48″ level, there are hand grips built into the frame to make it easier to hold. The hand grips and end caps are made from a very durable non-slip material to protect the level.The end caps can be removed if you need the end of the level to be flush with the surface. What I like most about these levels are the large easy-to-read bubbles. The bubble tubes are larger than any of my other levels which makes it very easy to read from a distance. The two-pack makes a great set for both large and small projects.

I really love the oversized vials. My eyesight is not as great as it once was. Much easier to see the bubble in low light. The beveled white frame around the vials helps illuminate the bubbles. Very accurate and sturdy. For an aluminum level these are pretty hefty. They do weight more than any other level I have but they are not so heavy that it hinders their use. Unless you are using the 78 inch over head for extended periods.The construction of theses are really nice. The aluminum is straight and true and machined nicely. Even the 78 inch level is dead straight, over the entire length there is only .0015 inches of variation from high to low. I took them in to where I work and laid them on a granite surface plate and then took a feeler gauge to see how much it was out. The 32 inch level was dead flat over the entire length. The vials are a little larger in these levels then most other levels so they are easy to read at most angles and at arms length. The bumpers on the ends of these level is not plastic like most other level they are rubber and provide a nice cushion when bumped into things. The paint finish looks flawless and is a matte texture to aid in grip, but does seems to mark and scratch pretty easy, so I think it is paint not powder coat.I like using the longer level for checking to make sure door jams are plumb and straight, you would be surprised how much a jam can be out when using a 4 foot level. Also work well for finding highs and lows in floors, walls and ceiling.Accuracy of level is .0005 inches per inch which is good enough for any construction level of accuracy. If I did my math right that is equal to 0.028648 degrees. I placed a digital level on the 78 inch level and compared the results. I could not see a movement in the bubble when I lifted one end a 1/32 of an inch, but it did show on the digital level. Even at a 1/16 of an inch it is really difficult to see any movement in the bubble. I am not saying the level is not accurate, it is, it is just difficult to be precise as you can be with a digital level. But for most uses a bubble level is more than sufficient and much quicker to use. A digital is nice if you want to find the angle something is at, without having to do some trig to figure out the angle.

These levels are going to give competitors a run for the money. This jamb set is very comparable to the 37532 from $ta8ila. Price comparison is about the same but Milwaukee does not include a carry bag (strike one). The levels are true when compared to others on a flat table including a consumer grade jamber from 5tanley/Bo5tich. I have been using a consumer grade jammer set (as mentioned previous) for the last 7 years with not one issue to speak of except it’s a little bit big in the bulk factor. These red box jambers are a decent weight and milled on two sides allowing one to use both sides. The surface is nice, true and accurate when compared using the new empire auto calibration model but even my old trusty consumer brand is still true. The paint finish of the red box is a good textured finish that won’t slip easily, has great fit with vials and includes rubber bumpers so you don scratch a nice finished surface when laid flat on its side. The vials are very clearly visible but I think I like the blue vials more especially when back lit where this is just a level, plain and simple…it’s a bit of a preference thing but these are darn good. The all metal trussed internal backbone adds some weight but also puts some rigidity into the extrusion which you should expect. The overmold grips are the perfect size and help limit slip especially when you overextend.Well, I think I only gave it one strike there and a close second strike could be that this is a non-magnetic version but I already knew that. All levels could benefit having magnets period. That said, these would be excellent for the pro but you might consider the magnetic version for just a tad more. I take extremely good care of all my tools so they last. This jamber in the hands of a coworker or employee should last the abuse on the jobsite especially with the engineered truss backbone. Go for it with redbox.

Excellent level from Milwaukee. These 78″ and 32″ magnetic “REDSTICK” levels are very robust and feels very strong. It has a great weight to it, so I am confident that it will last during my various projects. The two different lengths are perfect for those bigger projects such as cabinets, tables, doors, decks, etc., and smaller projects alike! The fact that it is magnetic is a surprisingly useful feature, not only for projects involving metal, but for storage! I currently have my Redstick levels stuck on the side of my large metal tool cabinet, that way I’m not wasting any space!The bubbles are very easy to read from dim to very bright light. The handles are easy to grip and the sides that are flat against your surfaces have a texture to it to provide a nice grip and prevent slipping. Additionally, the top black end caps can be removed if you need to fit it into an even tighter space. Pretty neat and I highly recommend!

Excelente tool heavy duty and very practical to use .

What a nice set of levels, Great for anything from laying beams to hanging a door. They are solid, very nicely made, very cleanly machined straight edges, They have rare earth magnets in them which were developed in the 1970s, rare-earth magnets are the strongest type of permanent magnets made, producing significantly stronger magnetic fields than most any other type of magnet, so you won’t have to worry about them falling off wherever you stick them. Milwaukee famous for their right angle drills that they invented in 1949 has been around a long time and produces a quality product,,,well worth the investment as these levels will last you a lifetime,,,,,,
