I struggled with the Porter Cable Dovetail Jig model 4212, because it would not give me consistent results in tightness of joint and alignment of pieces. Although I have been a woodworker for 20 years, I had never tried my hand a dovetailing. It always looked difficult at best. Although it did take me several tries to get the tight quality joint I was looking for, this jig was actually pretty easy to setup and use. After using it, I decided to get a separate router just for dovetailing. Since setting the height of the bit was the time consuming part, I don’t want to have to do that every time I set it up. The rest was just following the instructions. In the end the joints looked great (even thought they are seldom seen). I know their are nicer dovetailing jigs out there, but this one will take care of my needs for years to come.
