POWERTEC 110/220-Volt Paddle Switch

I installed on a shop smith. I wanted the added safety of a big off switch. Shop smith had just a little toggle switch. Works great.

Came without any hook up instructions also it needs a very deep box because of the wiring

Works great. Used it to replace the switch on my jointer.

This switch is mediocre at best!I really liked the closing of one of the previous reviews, where the reviewer, George, says, “Very poorly designed-the guy responsible should be sentenced to have to use it”. Well said, George!The switch is mediocre at best. To be fair, though, it does the job — it switches my table saw on and off, and is safer than the saw’s original switch. While I am glad I installed it, I wish the manufacturer had put a little more thought into its design and manufacturing.Let’s define some terms first so as to make sure that I can communicate well. The switch consists of two sections, (1) Let’s call the first one the front panel consisting of panel body, the paddle for quick switching off, the green button for switching on and the red button for switching off, and (2) let’s call the second section the switch assembly which contains the actual electrical switch. I hope the pros forgive the naming if they know of better ones.In order to mount the switch, I had to separate the two parts and mount them at two sides of frame of my table saw. This created distance between the red and green buttons on the front panel and the on and off switches on the switch assembly, so much so that the two never reached, rendering the switch useless. I then had to insert two pieces of plexi-glass on back side of the red and green buttons in order to make red/green switches to physically reach on/off switches on the switch assembly.In addition, tightening the screws to fasten the two parts caused the body of the switch front panel to give, bringing the green and red switches closer to the on and off switch. I therefore had to size of the pieces of plexi-glass a few times. This was a time consuming task.If I tighten the screws, I’ll bring the red/green closer to on/off, potentially causing the switch to accidentally turn on the table saw. Not good! If the saw vibrations turn the screws loose, the red/green can potentially lose contact with the on/off, rendering the switch useless. Not good again! I have used thread glue, hoping it can withstand the saw vibrations and keep the fastening bolts where they are.I have answered yes to the question “Would you recommend this product?”, not because I like the switch, but because I couldn’t find a better one of the same type.In my opinion, the manufacturer should’ve fastened the front panel and switch assembly in such a way that it couldn’t be opened, and should have thought of a different way to install it.

I had to canabilize the switch to get it to work with a momentary contact circuit. All that was needed was the front mounting plate with the large paddle shutoff switch.
