WEN 12 in. 48-Tooth Carbide-Tipped Professional Woodworking Saw Blade for Miter Saws and Table Saws

Quick blade change for a much smoother cut. For years I have used my general use 32-tooth blade for cutting everything, then sanding down rough edges for household items. It was time for an upgrade that would do the job but within a budget. This new WEN blade cuts great and makes nice, neat cuts with no effort on my 12″ miter saw. Whether cutting oak, pine, or cedar, the cuts are nice and clean.

This is a really nice, true cutting and inexpensive saw blade that the DIY’er can use on pretty much every type of natural wood that they would be using for any project. The blade is a carbide tipped, 48 tooth saw blade rated for general purpose cutting, so both rip and cross cut. I mounted this blade on my miter saw and it preformed perfectly with both kiln dried and pressure treated wood. The cross cuts were clean with no splintering on the back side of the wood. The rip cuts were even faster also with no splintering. The kerf is listed at 2.6 mm (.102″) I got it a little better when I did my test at 2.51 mm (.099″). My Kerf width test was to measure a piece of wood, cut it in half, put it back together and remeasure. There are 4 expansion joints, these are the older type with a simple hole at joint termination. There are no vibration dampeners (squiggly cuts with holes at each end). The older expansion and no vibration joints meant that the blade was kind of noisy but nothing out of the norm. If I was doing a production line type of cutting this would not be the right blade but as a DIY’er if fits my needs perfectly. The gullet (where the wood that’s removed from the kerf is held until the blade rotates out of the cut and releases the waste) is deep enough so that if you are hard on the cut (pulling down hard to cut through quickly) the blade will handle it even with some fairly wet 2 x 10″ pressure treated which did surprise me a bit. From the teeth to approx. 1″ towards the center of the blade is coated with a something that the OEM states will help with gumming, resin, heat and corrosion. The center arbor is 25.4 mm (1 inch) which means it will fit 90% of all miter and table saws on the market. The teeth are protected by a split plastic tubing wrapped around the whole blade and then packaged into a cardboard sleeve for a storage box. Great product for the price, works well, would not use on plywood, or engineered wood. recommended.

The Wen 48 tooth 12″ saw blade is designed for fast cutting softer woods ie 2 x 4 and framing lumber. Base boards will be fine if larger dimensions. Not for shoemold or cove molding. The blade will cut through white pine as fast as you desire. Great for the precise framing details. The blade isn’t coated. I wish it was. But the blade cuts so well. I’ll definitely highly recommend this blade.

Excellent choose compared to higher prices blades. Like others, I’ve used my old blade forever, but it slowly started struggling and leaving splinters at the backside of the cuts. This new combination blade solves that, cuts nice and clean, and cuts fast too.

Am very happy with this blade’s performance, it rips and cross cuts with ease. Can’t speak to the blade’s longevity but so far I am happy.

These saw blades are fantastically sharp. How long that lasts will take time to know. Will post another review in about 6 months. They run true and I have not seen a hint of a tooth being out of alignment which leaves a series of small gouges. A hint: keep the teeth protector ring to use when you change blades to protect your teeth. I do some pretty heavy sawing and these blades cut free and smooth. I glue scrap wood to turn bowls out of. Because I use a mix of woods, hard and soft I mount a fixture on my miter saw and lop off the corners. The 48 tooth works perfectly for this operation. This helps to make the initial roughing of the bowls easy because I can get the bowl nearly perfectly round using this fixture.. I even tilt the blade to take more of the corners off. You can use these Wen blades safely and with confidence my friend.
