Capri Tools 1/4 in. Drive 50 in. to 250 in. lbs. Industrial Torque Wrench

I was skeptical of this wrench at first, as I don’t have any experience with Capri tools, but I have been impressed so far. Time will tell how it holds up, but so far it’s worked exactly as it’s supposed to and it has a good solid feel to it. I’ve been meaning to get an in/lb wrench for a while now, and I’m glad I picked this one up. It comes with a calibration certificate and a pretty good warranty.

A joy to use. This Capri Tools torque wrench oozes high quality, from the knurled grip to the engraved markings. It’s SOLID, and the range (50-250 in-lbs, or 6.5-27.1 Nm) is great for a 1/4″ drive wrench. Pull back the locking ring, rotate the head to the desired setting, and release the ring. Engage the socket and turn slowly until the unit “clicks” – it’s more a feel than a sound but it’s obvious after a few practice runs. Of course if you continue turning, the applied torque increases, so stop at the first – and ONLY – click. The rings locks in at 2 in-lb increments, which is less than the +/-3% stated tolerance at torques above 67 in-lbs but the tolerance is actually better than 3% in the Calibration certificate on my unit (typically within 1%). Calibration is good for one year from first use or 5000 clicks, whichever comes first. The unit comes in a hard plastic, fitted case that snaps shut securely. The only downside is the included User Manual. While it provides data for a number of wrench models, it does not actually apply to THIS model wrench (CP31200-250IL). Ranges, dimensions, and increments listed under specifications are incorrect. So is the calibration duration – it states 10,000 clicks versus the 5000 on the certificate. Manual aside, this is my second precision calibrated tool from Capri Tools, and I recommend it highly. The price is well justified by the quality and precision of the tool.

Great for small motor maintenance, particularly with 1/4 to 3/8 adapter. Very sturdy all metal construction. Quick setting ring even works well with the inevitable greasy fingers. The manual suggest practicing at low torque settings to get used to the click, but for most small engine stuff you can easily sense the click stop when torque is reached.
