General Tools Professional Gasket Punch Set and Case (10-Piece)

An overall good set for the money. Steel seems of high quality. The punches thread on and off of the mandrel very nicely. The mandrel is also heavy, helping to transfer the energy from the hammer to the work piece. The punches came out of the box reasonably sharp. There is light knurling on the punches and mandrel that I think is a little shallow. The only downfall to this kit is that the centering punch has about 1/32″ of play in the mandrel housing. Therefore it is very difficult to produce a piece with concentric cirlcles (like making your own hose washers). That could be overcome if you tighten the screw, but the pin will be off center, and you would have to clock mark your work to produce concentric punches. Not sure if that makes this a good deal to others though.

The right tool for the job.

The punch set is exactly what I needed for my project. It has made everything go so much better.

Easy to assemble and use.

Have used this set only a few times, and I am impressed with how well the punches cut different soft materials. Holes are uniform and well formed.

A must-have tool for anyone who needs to punch holes in gasket material, leather, paper, sail cloth, canvas, etc.
