This looks AWESOME! Hope that there are plans in the works to sell jaws for swaging wire rope (aircraft cable). As a stagehand and entertainment rigger, I frequently have to swage aircraft cable by hand. It would be great to have a power crimper in the M18 family that could handle up to 3/8″ diameter wire rope.

This is another specialized tool by Milwaukee that while not for everyone will make job much easier. This utility crimper kit comes with the crimping tool, 1 crimping jaw, 2 – 2.0AH batteries, M18 charger and soft-sided carrying case. The tool itself is pretty light at around 5.5 pounds with the battery about a pound more, makes using this overhead or in precarious situations easier to manage while getting the job done. The grip handle has a nice positive feel while being located centrally for balance. The tool can exert up to 6 tons of force for crimping connectors. There is a LED indicator light to let you know the status of the crimp and if full pressure was reached via flashing red, solid red and solid green. The LED will also let you know if you’ve reached a service interval by displaying a flashing red/green. It would have been ideal if the accessory cutting jaws were included with this kit allowing for both cutting and crimping. Lastly, this crimper features the ONE KEY technology allowing real time data to your smartphone as well as performance data and tracking of the tool. The app is simple to download and works pretty well.

This is a fast and efficient heavy duty crimping tool that provides the satisfaction of knowing every crimp is a secure and effective crimp. With six tons of force in such a compact package this tool can be used in the shop and out in the field for a wide range of crimping and cutting jobs. This one comes with the D3 / BG jaw and there are a number of additional jaws available. The first of the two batteries charged up completely in about 40 minutes but the second one is faulty causing the charger to immediately flash red and green as a warning. I have never had a problem with Milwaukee batteries – or tools – in the past. Time to test their warranty process. ONE-KEY functionality provides great data, security and peace of mind. In the video the Crimping tool is joined by the M18 Cable Stripper and the M18 Cable Cutter to show how this team gets the job done quickly and without any fuss.
