Allows you to keep the same chuck and accessories if you change your wood lathe – you only need to change the insert/adaptor. The internal thread is 1 in. 8 and the external thread matches the NOVA insert type chucks, to simply and easily screw into the back of your NOVA Insert Type Chuck. This insert adapter serves its purpose, but it does not have a locking set screw like some other adapters do. The set screw is important for use on reversing lathes to keep the chuck from possibly unscrewing. The adapter works, but keep an eye on it when using reverse. You can get a set screw adapter for about the same price. I didn’t notice the lack of a set screw when I ordered it.
