Stanley Self-Retracting Utility Knife

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received this Self Retracting Safety Utility knife approx a month ago. i mostly used it to cut and break down boxes. i do a lot of shipping, so I go through a lot of boxes daily.Knife is very well made metal construction. it weights approx 4.9 ounces. and comes with one blade. Would been nice to have a couple extras. The Knife works well in breaking down boxes. Does the job very well. However if you are going to use this for commercial use you might get tired of holding the safety latch all the time.If using for home, it would be great for the safety part, and would work well since you well probably be only use it a few times. All in all I find it a nice knife to keep in the house, and is a great safety feature

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This utility knife is fantastic. It is so well built. I bought this knife after my old Stanley box cutter disappeared in my garage. I’d had it for at least a decade and I’m 100% certain that it will last for years, too. There’s a little space to store new blades inside the body of this knife, and how that I have kids, the fact that the blade automatically retracts is good for peace of mind. I wish that it came with something other than a rounded edge blade because I really don’t find them too useful, but I’m guessing that they had safety in mind. Not a big deal for such an awesome knife.

Stanley has always made the best utility knives and this one is no exception. Great for opening boxes and those frustrating blister packages that are so hard to get into. The self retracting blade is a great feature especially if you have young children in the house. The blunt edge blade works as well as a pointed one for this specific task. Good job Stanley!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Easily the safest knife I have ever used with the retracting blade and improved grip compared to other utility knives.With that said, it’s sometimes annoying to have to hold it open. Would be very cool to see a quick change option with this

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] With the supplied, rolled tip blade, this utility knife is the safest I’ve ever used. With it’s spring-loaded blade retrieval mechanism, you can leave the knife laying around knowing that the blade is safely stored inside. Just push out the blade, cut and release button. Blade is automatically drawn inside the steel knife body.

My only complaint is that I cannot lock the blade and have to hold it the whole time. I do like the self-retracting as a safety feature, but not for every day use. I would have liked the hole at the end to be a little large so I could secure it easier to my belt.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The self retracting safety feature is great for a lot of tasks and I find it convenient to just drop it in a pocket after each use. It came with a round point blade which I had never had before and found it to be an effective blade.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I got one of these as a gift from one of my coworkers a while ago and lost it so I bought a new one because it has been one of the most durable utility knives that I’ve ever had. it’s a little bit more bulky thank the foldable one I use to carry when I’m not working but it’s still worth it.

The blade retracts when not in use which allows me to leave it on the work bench without worrying that my kids will grab it and cut themselves. The fact that it does not stay engaged makes accidents minimal. It can be a little tedious but depending on your home environment it was a great buy for a family handyman.
